Changing the world can happen anywhere and anyone can do it
but the question is how will the world look after you change it well I believe
it will look much better I have some tips And while these lessons were learned
during my time in the military, I can assure you that it doesn't matter if you
ever served a day in uniform. of course, no matter your gender, your ethnic or
religious background, your orientation or your social status, our struggles in
this world are the same and to overcome those conflicts and move forward,
change yourself and the world around you. All basic seal training would apply
equally to replace six months long painful run in soft sand swims in the middle
of the night The cool water from the San Diego obstacle course ends calisthenics
days without sleep and is always cold wet and miserable , it's six months of
being constantly harassed by professed only trained warriors Who wants to find
the weaknesses of the mind and body and eliminate them from ever becoming the
seal of the Navy, but the training also wants to find the students who can lead
in an environment of constant tension, chaos failure and difficulties of the
basic seal Training was the challenges of a lifetime finished in six months, so
here are ten lessons I learned from basic SEAL training that will hopefully be
important to you as you move through life in SEAL training every morning. The
time was all Vietnam veterans show up in my barracks room and the first thing
they do is inspect my bed if you did it right the corners would be square, the
cover would be pulled tightly to the pillows centered under the headboard and
extra The blanket would be folded neatly on the foot rack. It was a simple task
at best, but every morning we needed to make our bed to perfection, it seemed a
bit ridiculous at the time, especially in light of the fact that we Was aspire
to be a real warrior, it was difficult Pure-hard seal but the wisdom of this
simple task has proven to me many times if you make your bed every morning you
will finish the first task of the day it will give you a small feeling of pride
and it will give you another task to do Will encourage and second and second
and by the end of the day that one task is completed that will take many tasks,
your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter if
you can' the little things don't do the right things you will never be able to
do great things properly and if by chance you have a miserable day you will end
up at home on the bed you made and a made bed encourages you that tomorrow will
be better so if You want to change the world by making your own bed during
training, so the students all break up into crews of boats, each crew
consisting of seven students on each side of a small rubber boat and a coxswain
to guide the canoe. helps in. The day your boat crew makes it to the beach and
is instructed to go through the surf zone and paddle several miles below the
coast in winter, the surf from San Diego can be eight to ten feet high and
paddle It is extremely difficult to plunging through the surf unless everyone
who digs into each paddle must be synchronized with the coxswain's stroke
count, everyone must make equal effort or the boat will turn against the wave
and the boat will reach its destination. To arrive will be thrown back to the
beach. Everyone must paddle. You alone can't change the world. You'll need some
help and to really get from your starting point to your destination. Friends'
allies, strangers' good will and a strong coxswain to guide you. If you want to
change the world find someone to help you. In a few weeks of hard training, my
SEAL class that started with 150 men dropped to just 42. l guys, but we had the
best boat crew, made up of little guys we used to say no one was more than five
foot five, the munchkin boat crew had one american indian an african- american
one polish American one Greek American one Italian - American and two tough
kids from the Midwest They ran out and swam outside all the other boat crew
swam, the elders of the other boat crew always good-natured jokes of the little
flippers, who swam their tiny little feet But were kept. For every swim. But
you didn't have the desire to be successful Your complexion Your ethnic
background Not your education Not your social status If you want to change the
world measure a person by the size of their heart not by the size of their
flippers Several times a week Ins tractors would line up the class and observe
a uniform It was exceptionally thorough Your hat had to be completely starched
Your uniform was pressed impeccably, your belt buckle shiny and any smudges But
it seemed that no matter how much effort you put into starching your hat or
lacing your uniform or polishing your belt buckle, it wasn't enough, something
for the instructors to fail a uniform inspection. Will get it wrong Student had
to run in surf zone fully clothed , then had to roll around on the beach from
head to toe. Part of your body was covered with sand, the effect was known as a
sugar cookie You were cold wet and sandy the rest of the day in uniform There
were many students who could not accept the fact that all their efforts were in
vain Uniform No matter how hard they tried to fix, they weren't appreciated,
those students didn't gain it through training, those students didn't understand
the purpose of the drill you were, you're going to be successful, You'll never
have a perfect uniform, the instructors weren't going to allow it sometimes, no
matter how well you prepare or how well you perform, you still end up as a
sugar cookie, It's just like life sometimes happens. You want to change the
world. Being a sugar cookie and moving forward every day you were challenged
with a number of physical events during training. Long swim obstacle courses.
Hours of Calisthenics was something designed to test your metal. Every event
had standard time that you had to do if you were at that time. If you failed to
meet those standards, your name was posted on the list.
A circus was two hours of extra calisthenics designed to
break your spirit to force you to leave. Nobody wanted a circus. A circus was
meant for that day. You didn't measure the circus, which meant more fatigue and
more fatigue meant that the next day would be more difficult and there was
likely to be more circus, but at some point during SEAL training everyone made
the circus list but an interesting thing happened to those who were persistent.
Over time the students on the list who did an extra two hours of calisthenics
grew stronger and stronger Circus pain built inner strength and physical
flexibility Life is full of circuses you will fail you will fail often it will
be painful it will Sometimes discouraging it will test you at its core, but if
you don't want to change the world don't be afraid of the circus, at least
twice a week apprentices were required to run a 10-foot obstacle course. There
were 25 obstacles including a wall, a 30-foot cargo net, barbed wire to name a
few. Crawl through, but the most challenging obstacle was the slide for life,
with a three-level 30-foot tower at one end and a one-level tower in the middle
with a 200-foot-long rope that you had to climb the three-level tower and once
At the top you grab the swinging rope under the rope and pull yourself by the
arm until you reach the other end. When my classes started in 1977, the
obstacle course record was held for years. The record seemed unbeatable until
one day a student decided to go down the slide for the head of life instead of
swinging his body under the rope and making his way down. Climbed to the top of
the rope and propelled himself. This was a dangerous move that appears foolish
and fraught with risk failure could mean injury and without hesitation the
student was dropped from the course dangerously fast. Slipped on the road.
Instead of several minutes it took him only half the time and by the end of the
course he had broken the record. If you want to change the world sometimes you
have to knock down obstacles first during the land battle phase of students
training. Will flew to San Clemente Island, which is located off the coast of
San Diego, the waters off San Clemente a breeding ground for great white sharks
to pass seal training, a series of long swims that must be completed in a The
night before the swim is the swim instructors happily tell students about all
the species of sharks that live in the waters of San Clemente, they assure you
that no student has ever been eaten by a shark, at least Not only that they can
remember, but you are also taught that if the shark is in its place Starts
circling the enemy Stand up swim your land don't be afraid and if a shark
hungry for midnight snack darts towards you call all your might and punch him
in the muzzle and he will turn and will swim, there are a lot of sharks in the
world if you hope to complete the swim you have to deal with them, so if you
want to change the world don't back down from the sharks because navy seal is
one of our job is the enemy's shipping We practice this technique extensively
during training. Ship attack missions are where a pair of sealed divers are
dropped out of an enemy port and then deepened. Swims well two miles underwater
using nothing but a gauge and a compass to reach the target during the entire
swim that there is open water above you but as you approach the ship which is
tied up to be visible The light begins to fade the ship's steel structure
blocks the moonlight it blocks the surrounding street lamps it blocks all
ambient light to be successful in your mission you have to swim under the ship
and center line and The keel is to find the deepest part of the ship this is
your objective but the keel is also the darkest part of the ship where you
can't see your hand in front of your face where the noise from the ship's
machinery is deafening and where it can easily gets distracted and you could
fail Strength and your inner strength should be brought in. To endure if you
want to change the world you have to be your best in the darkest moments, the
ninth week of training is known as hell week, it is not six days of continuous
physical and mental torture and mud The flats have a special day. Mud Flats is
an area between San Diego and Tijuana where water flows down and forms the
Tijuana Slopes a swampy patch of terrain where mud will surround you It is on
Wednesday of Hell Week that you descend into the mud field ts And the next 15
hours trying to survive this cold, roaring wind and constant pressure from the
instructors to release when the sun began to set, my training class did some
serious violations of the rules ordered in the mud by the mud devoured every
man until nothing was visible, but our head trainers told us we could leave the
mud if only five men left and we could break out of the oppressive cold , then
looking around the clay flat it was clear that some students were about to give
up, there was still more than eight hours until the sun came out, eight hours
of bone-chilling cold, chattering teeth And the trainees' trembling moans were
so loud that it was hard to hear anything and then a voice echoed through the
night, a voice in song Woke up, the song was very bad but sung with great
enthusiasm, one voice became two and two became three and soon everyone was
singing the las in C. The instructors threatened us with more time in the mud
if we were to sing. continue but the singing continues and somehow the soil
feels a little warmer and the wind a little tamer and the dawn is not so far if
i learned something my time to travel the world it's the power of a man one
Washington one Lincoln King Mandela And even a young girl from Pakistan Malala
can change the world by giving people hope so if you want to change the world
then start singing when you are up to your neck in the mud there will be a bell
in seal training at the end which is a brass bell that hangs in the center of
campus for all the students to see, all you have to do is leave, all you have
to do is ring the bell the bell rings and you don't have to get up at five
o'clock anymore Ring the bell and now you don't need to swim in the cold Ring
the bell and now you don't have to run the obstacle course Never Ring a Bell If
You Want to Change the World Start Each Day with a Task to Help You Through
Life Find someone to respect Everyone knows that life isn't fair and that
you'll often fail, but if you take some risks, when times are toughest, threats
take the underdogs and never give up. Believe if you do this work then the next
generation and the generations to come will live in one The world is much
better than what we have today and what started here has really changed the
world for the better, thank you very much
